Someday I’ll get to see the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Last time I was in New York things just didn’t pan out. When circumstances are better I know I’ll make it. And I’ll brush up on some history too. I am told there’s a huge Egyptian tomb that is in there in it’s entirety. I’d break someones nose to get a chance to go back.

Where are we going? Is it over? When did it end? I don’t know. The parking lot could be art. The locker room. The path. The paintings on the walls at the bar. Who determines what’s what. The brick wall with the sunset was more beautiful than the art under florescent light.

This art is a lie. What is trust for if there are lies.

This art is beautiful because it’s all deception. The mushrooms are on the wall. The paint and cups and brushes are all made of painted Styrofoam. The seeds are painted ceramic. The doors overlooking the fog are a painting. Can we trust the artist? Or do we appreciate that they are honestly lying to us.

Honestly? I hated this room when I first walked in. It took about 30 seconds for me to realize it was just really intense, and the gestalt of it all was amazing. Irreverent, high color, a strong idea and strong strokes. Prolific? Idk. I know nothing about this artist. It just seems like they’re doing what they want to, and I love that.

I will post some others from this exhibit. The artist is into mysticism and it shows in a lot of the art.

This is my favorite piece of art at the Walker. I want to punch it or something. It is all wired together and rough and brutal, but the edges arn’t hard. It’s a canvas and wire brutal instead of a rough cement and metal rectangles.
